Abstract

The study of the anatomical bases of memory constitutes a central and fundamental aspect for neurosciences. At present, memory processes are conceived as a function of the activity of the brain as a whole. However, this does not mean that memory is considered a unitary and indivisible entity. Depending on the temporal characteristics and the stored content, various memory subsystems have been described. Each one of them would be represented by different neural structures, which in turn interact with each other, allowing the integral functioning of the system.
