The present article discusses, by way of early institutionalization, the concept of attachment. The main purpose is to reflect on hypotheses that would permit and explanation of the existence of attachment between mother and child, as well as disturbances after the institutionalization phenomenon and affective separation has taken place. It proposes the concepts of wish, symbolism and history as central notions to comprehend what is implied by attachment.
