Abstract

Teenage pregnancy is a relevant biopsychosocial problem in Chile. The lack of an approach that addresses it comprehensively is the problem that this research set out to address. For this, the objective was to describe the life project and self-concept of pregnant adolescents from a peripheral sector of Santiago, participants in a health education program, in relation to their being a woman, adolescent and mother. The design used was descriptive - analytical, of a qualitative nature. From the analysis of the data, conceptual categories emerged that made it possible to understand the perceptions of adolescents. In this sense, the results confirm the biopsychosocial nature of adolescent pregnancy and its impact on the self-concept and life project of young women, which are mainly focused on the roles of housewife and mother.
